Heart Healthy Eating 1&2 – led by the dietitian on strategies to incorporate appropriate dietary habits to improve heart health and lower cholesterol (Mediterranean diet principles, sodium, and mindful eating)
Importance of Exercise 1&2 – led by the kinesiologist, about benefits, guidelines, goal setting and more
Stress Management – learn how to identify and cope with stress from one of our social workers
All sessions are virtual but in person sessions may be arrange as needed

GLA:D is an 8-week education and exercise program developed in Denmark for people with symptoms of knee or hip osteoarthritis (OA).
If you are experiencing pain or stiffness in your hip(s) or knee(s), it may be symptoms of OA. If you experience instability in your knee, “like it will give out”, this could be OA. If you suffer from stiffness and lack of mobility in the knee/hip joint, it may be OA. Do you hear grinding or clicking noises in your joints, it could be OA.
This program will teach you the right way to move to reduce your OA symptoms. People taking the GLA:D program:
GLA:D is for all patients that have symptoms of hip or knee OA. Exercise is the best way to regenerate your cartilage. For more information, speak to your healthcare provider or contact us directly.
This is a 6-week group for people dealing with chronic pain. Participants attend once a week for a 2.5-hour education class. Some topics include fitness/exercise, pacing, medications, emotions, fatigue/sleep and communication. This program is geared at teaching new ways to deal with chronic pain and requires participants to take an active role in learning and practicing these tools. The support from the group members is an added benefit to the program. A family member is welcome to attend as well.

The social workers of the Minto-Mapleton FHT offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) groups throughout the year. Cognitive behavioural therapy explores the link between how we think and what we do and how this influences how we feel. This is an 8 week group with an educational component. Participants will be given the opportunity to share experiences and strategies with group participants.

At times all parents feel lost or without a clue about what our child might need from us. Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your child was really asking from you. The Circle of Security Parenting™ program is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened. For the purposes of this group we will focus on parenting children 11months to 14 years.
Learning Objectives of the Training:
• Understand your child’s emotional world by learning to read the emotional needs
• Support your child’s ability to successfully manage emotions
• Enhance the development of your child's self esteem
• Honor your innate wisdom and desire for your child to be secure
Groups are 90 mins for 8-weeks. Spaces are limited. Pre-screening and pre-registration is required.

Pulmonary Rehab is an 8-week program running Monday and Wednesday mornings to help you learn how to better manage your lung condition. It includes both education and exercise classes.

Our Certified Respiratory Educator leads an interactive one hour session demonstrating the proper techniques for using lung health medications. Learn about the different lung medications and how to use inhalers and devices.
Sessions are offered virtually using OTN. Patients are scheduled individually at a mutually suitable time.
Also learn valuable information about vaccinations and how to stay protected.
Have your lung medications and devices, such as your areo-chamber if you use one, ready at the time of your appointment. This will be a hands-on teaching session.

Learn how and when to introduce solid foods to your baby. A Registered Dietitian will discuss what types of foods should be introduced first and when the right time is for your baby. Your questions about allergies, baby led weaning and more will be answered. Parent’s and babies are welcome!
These sessions are offered in partnership with EarlyOn Centres in Drayton.

This program supports moms with the emotional and physical aspects of post partum. One hour education session, weekly, for 6-weeks on how to help your body recover from birth, paired with exercises to help with a safe return to physical activity. Guest speakers include dietitian and social worker to discuss nutrition, mental health and community resources post partum.
This program is not just for first time moms.

This support group, hosted by the Arthritis Society in partnership with Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN), is offered through video conferencing, as an opportunity to learn how to manage Osteoarthritis. This workshop includes 3 weeks of education, 2 hour sessions each and presenters include a Physiotherapist, Registered Dietitian, and Clinical Pharmacist. Offered annually.

This support group, hosted by the Alzheimer Society in partnership with Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN), is offered through video conferencing, as an opportunity to connect with other caregivers. There is a brief presentation topic of the group’s choice, followed by group discussion. Held 4th Wednesday of every month, 1:30 – 3:00 pm, in-person from the Mt. Forest FHT offices.

Each walking club offers indoor walking.
If you are an active walker during the summer months but find it difficult to maintain this throughout the year, then our walking groups may be just the answer. It's a great place to meet new people, and keep active at the same time!
